This is the private beach of Hôtel Mondrian (formerly Le Grand, Cannes’ oldest luxury hotel). Stripey cabanas in a style redolent of the Greek islands, plates and crockery by a Vallauris potter, heavenly cocktails on the pontoon: the Riviera lifestyle down to the smallest detail. The turquoise upholstery echoes the azure of the sky. The service, at table or by your sunbed, is impeccable. For lunch or supper, Roman chef Gabriele Faiella will delight you with his Italian specialities: crudo of sea bream caught in Cannes bay, watermelon marinated in Campari, gambas with black garlic, a red fruit ‘Vachelova’. There are special set menus for the Cannes fireworks nights on 7, 15 and 24 August.
