The new technologies are often judged by their ability to revive forgotten trades. My Tailor Is Free and Atelier NA are using digital to offer men a new version of bespoke tailoring.
Who hasn’t ever groaned as they put on a jacket that’s perfect on the shoulders but too long in the arms, a shirt that shows the bulges or trousers that need taking in at the waist? Ready-to-wear all too often has some depressing defect of this kind. Atelier NA stores and Aix-en-Provence start-up My Tailor Is Free now bring bespoke tailoring down to ready-to-wear prices thanks to the innovative concept of the 3D fitting room. The principle is simple: the customer enters the booth and in just a few seconds all their measurements are taken automatically by a quick, precise, reliable technology. Using 200-odd measurement points, the system creates a virtual avatar that will be used for all subsequent orders. The stylist proffers personalised advice to help the customer choose a fabric from a wide range of qualities and colours, and options such as pockets, buttons and linings. With the 3D avatar, unique, irreproachable patterns can be produced. As well as suits (classic, collection, dinner suits wedding suits), these far-sighted shops offer jackets, shirts, ties, belts, bow ties, clutch bags and more. Four weeks after the trip to the fitting room, the suit is delivered to your door.
