Opéra de Monte-Carlo

Monte-Carlo Jazz Festival

Image

With this year’s edition of the festival we have historic big bands like the Count Basie Orchestra (founded in Kansas city in 1935!) and rising stars of the new generation like Emile Londonien (a trio from Strasbourg with British jazz influences) and Sophye Soliveau, singer, harpist and chorus leader with a voice that’s the breathtaking epitome of soul. Guitar fans can hear classical acoustic and electric guitar join together at the peak of musicianship with Thibault Cauvin and -M- (Matthieu Chedid). And those who like a bit of a mix can find the origins of jazz and its open-ended fringes with the German-Nigerian singer Ayo, Mayra Andrade from Cape Verde and Seun Kuti, son of Afrobeat pioneer Fela Kuti.
