Aurèce Vettier
Aurèce Vettier is artist in residence for a month in the prestigious Bastide and its gardens. But who is Vettier? Behind the AI-generated name is Paul Mouginot and the studio he founded in 2019. Mouginot, a poet, artist, mathematician and botanist who likes to combine art and technology, has created a series of large-scale artworks in that blend the real with the imaginary. “The studio starts from AI to end up with real objects – sculptures in this case, 3m-tall bronze trees. The exhibition also includes a rare group of engravings jointly created with Vera Molnar, who at the end of her life wanted to train in AI. The works they created together were recently included in an exhibition at the Pompidou Centre,” says Marius Jacob-Gismondi, creator of Darmo Art, a programme that supports emerging artists. In October it will award the Darmo Art Prize.
