This Niçoise grew up surrounded by precious stones and cultured pearls in Maison Porchet, a pearl trading business founded by her great-grandfather Maurice in 1928. Her grandfather and grandmother subsequently grew the business; next came the turn of her mother and uncles, who developed the international jewellery wholesale business in the 70s. It was not until her teenage years when she began travelling with her family to trade fairs around the world, that Olivia Seitz became interested in the trade and discovered its secrets. This natural curiosity became a passion over time. “I didn’t immediately think of working alongside my family. I became a pharmacist. I created the Baie des Anges jewellery collection in 2019, at the same time as working in my ‘real’ job! And then something clicked... I had to continue the story that my family had started. It was obvious. So, I gave up pharmacy to start creating precious jewellery, determined to retain the Maison Porchet aura.” Her jewellery line is named D1928, in homage to her grandmother Denise, still working aged 95! Olivia Seitz is very fortunate that she is able to create her designs alongside the Porchet atelier artisans, benefit from their expertise and techniques, and have access to Porchet’s immense stock of precious stones and pearls. “It’s a great playground!” The 31-year-old creates ultra-contemporary jewellery in 18-carat gold, composed of semi-precious stones, gems, and pearls, all inspired by the shores of the French Riviera.
