These exceptional timepieces will thrill collectors, the 2014 vintage fulfilling its promises with prodigious mechanisms, stunning designs and rare materials.

GUY ELLIA Repetition Minute Zephyr
This limited edition offers a trilogy of complications, the most poetic being the minute repeater that allows it to ring the hours, quarters and minutes with a cathedral chime. It also has a power-reserve indicator and displays a second time zone.

2
FRANCK MULLER 7 Days Power Reserve Skeleton
The 7-day power reserve is a Franck Muller classic. Inside this gold case with its beautifully skeletonised openwork dial beats the FM 1740 RS calibre, a hand-wound mechanical movement.

3
 HARRY WINSTON Project Z8
This is the very latest in the Project Z line for which Harry Winston has innovatively used Zalium, which is lighter, harder and tougher than titanium, for the first time. This version driven by a self-winding mechanical movement displays the time in two different zones. Limited edition of 300.

4
 HUBLOT Classic Fusion Tourbillon Firmament
The originality of this watch lies in its dial made of osmium crystal. Osmium is one of our planet's rarest and heaviest metal as well as being very hard and extremely dense. This gives it an intense natural brilliance with a bluish sparkle, conferring a unique elegance on the black ceramic case.

5
 BREGUET Classique Tourbillon Quantième Perpetuel
Inside this 41mm pink-gold case beats a hand-wound mechanical movement with a 50hr power reserve, a tourbillon and a perpetual calendar. Its silvered gold dial is guillochéd by hand in four different patterns.

6
 PIAGET Emperador Coussin XL
The watchmaker again sets a new record for finesse by presenting the world's flattest self-winding minute-repeater movement: the Manufacture Piaget 1290P calibre just 4.8mm deep. The sapphire-glass dial reveals the magical spectacle of the movement.

7
 PATEK PHILIPPE Reference 5304
Among the watchmaker's great complication models, this minute repeater reveals the heart of its mechanics to us. A transparent dial and an ingenious means of displaying the calendar allow us to admire its train of wheels. The 43mm case comes in pink gold this year.

8
 DEWITT Twenty-8-Eight Tourbillon Prestige
This is the latest addition to DeWitt's family of complication watches, in a limited edition of 99. Inside the pink-gold case lies the DW 8015 calibre whose automatic tourbillon required a patent for its Automatic Sequential Winding mechanism.
