All lovers of skiing and aquatic sensations, get ready for a great show! July 2024 seems far away, but the Olympic event is being prepared in the bay with the Mediterranean Sea as its backdrop. We know that the flame lit in Greece will begin its French journey in the Old Port, aboard the majestic three-masted Belem. The CMA-CGM Group will be an official partner in logistics solutions.
Currently, all eyes are on the site of the future Roucas-Blanc Olympic Marina, which is well known to some 70 athletes of the French Sailing centre and also to the sailing and kayaking branches of the Pôle Espoir. It is very popular with great navigators and sailors as it offers the ideal tactical and strategic conditions of a fairly constant wind and a well-oriented coastline with no currents or tides. Many international team delegations have been training there for several months. It is currently under reconstruction and the future complex promises a hosting capacity commensurate with the scale of the sporting event: about 70,000m2 of buildings, reorganization of 17,000m2 of outdoor spaces and pool refurbishment. Eventually, it will accommodate 12,262 spectators (2,262 seated and 10,000 standing spaces) to attend the Women, Men and Mixed events. This is a huge land and sea modernization project! After the Olympic phase, the Marina will become a permanent facility in the area. There will be opportunities for sailing and boating, enjoying the beaches and gaining access to the marine world. The aim across the board is to give everyone access to the sea.
