MOPA

The school of 3D animation

Based in Arles, MoPA is one of the leading schools of 3D film animation in France and the world, and has been training talented new students in the field for more than 20 years: 40% of its 600 graduates go on to launch international careers.

« Les Chaussures de Louis », réalisé en 2020 par Marion Philippe, Ka Yu Leung, Jean-Géraud Blanc et Théo Jamin, a obtenu 6 récompenses.

« The Green Bird », réalisé en 2017 par Quentin Dubois, Maximilien Bougeois, Marine Goalard, Irina Nguyen-Duc et Pierre Perveyrie, a obtenu 8 récompenses.

After it was acquired by EDH Group, MoPA (Motion Pictures in Arles) joined the Brassart network of creative schools in 2020 – a group of schools specialising in 3D animation, graphic design, video games, graphic and audiovisual arts. Building on this momentum, the school’s graphic charter has been completely redesigned with the aim of promoting the gem internationally.

MoPA’s curriculum covers the whole end-to-end process of designing and producing animated films, from screenplay to staging, artistic direction, character and set design, animation and 3D image production. It combines artistic, cinematographic and technical principles, with teaching methods that focus on project work, team building, passion and innovation. The results speak for themselves: more than 170 films have won awards in international festivals out of 1,300 selections. And following the success of Garden Party (nominated for an Academy Award), The Green Bird (best international film at the Student Academy Awards) and Hybrids (Best in Show at SIGGRAPH), Les Chaussures de Louis, which was made by four students as their graduation project, won the Gold Medal at the 2021 Student Academy Awards, making it eligible for the 2022 Oscars. The short film sensitively addresses issues of difference and integration relating to autism.  MoPA also offers continuing education courses in 3D animation for those who wish to enhance their skills in film animation and 3D creation, relaunch their careers, adapt to changes in their roles or move into a different professional field.
