  • Mobilising business for the common good

Catherine Gineste, un engagement essentiel et existentiel.

Catherine Gineste founded her consultancy Raison d’Être in February 2020, after working for major financial management firms for 15 years. Her purpose is to advise the region’s businesses, institutions and associations to help them meet France’s new regulations on corporate social responsibility. These were introduced under the 2019 law on ‘company growth and transformation’ “My main aim is to get company heads to change their business models, taking on board the idea of the common good alongside that of profit,” she says. “Of course,” she adds, “profit is still the necessary goal for long-term management.” Her consultancy covers CSR advice and certification, corporate philanthropy and sponsorship strategy, and training and workshops. Catherine Gineste is an elected member of the Aix-Marseille-Provence chamber of commerce and industry. She also promotes corporate sponsorship through her roles in Mécènes du Sud, the Digital Art Club and the ADMICAL, a non-profit formed for that purpose. So she is ideally placed, at the junction between CSR and the new forms of sponsorship, to talk about entrepreneurial renewal. Sponsorship has outgrown its traditional image. It’s no longer a matter of bankrolling an exhibition or two; the main beneficiaries today are education and welfare rather than culture. “Sponsorship is intervening, for the common good, in spheres where government no longer can.”
