When she was young, she wanted to be a fighter pilot, but now she’s piloting a flourishing food company. She works with major supermarket chains, bringing them daily her dynamism and fresh ideas. After graduating from business school, Delphine Vassallucci worked in sales in the food retail industry, but soon set up her own business. In 2009 she and her husband founded Julie Traiteur, partnering the big supermarket chains. «It wasn’t the best time, because I had just had my second child and we were both out of work. But we like taking risks and it was a terrific opportunity», she says. She decided to give her business a fashionable name, Julie, rather than her own. Today Julie Traiteur is a pivotal player in point-of-sale promotion and ready-cooked meal sales in supermarkets. There’s scarcely a chain that Delphine Vassallucci doesn’t work with. She still manages major clients directly, while her team sets up some thirty operations a week, spread throughout the country. At 42, she’s as enthusiastic about her work as ever. “It’s a complex job but so rich. You can never rest on your laurels. Everything is changing all the time – seasons, schedules, products, places. That suits my temperament.” In private life she still likes speed, sports with thrills and keeping on the move. Anything to kill monotony. In 2018 she took her family on an eight-month round-the-world tour. A taste for action and the pursuit of high performance that she tries to instil in her children.
