The Sofitel Marseille Vieux-Port has always been much more than a hotel: it has been a true home for artists. Many writers, painters, musicians, and creators have stayed here, finding the Mediterranean an incomparable source of inspiration. Today, the Sofitel continues this cultural mission by offering its literary evenings at the Dantès Skylounge, which have become key events in Marseille life. On the program: a convivial and refined dinner, a meeting with Anne Berest, an interview conducted by Elsa Charbit, followed by a book signing session. And, true to the Sofitel's open spirit: each guest is invited to share their latest literary favorite. One of them, chosen at random, will have the honor of presenting it on stage – an original way to blend the voices of authors and readers.
A renowned writer on the contemporary French literary scene, Anne Berest is the author of notable novels such as La Carte Postale (finalist for the Prix Goncourt and Prix Renaudot des Lycéens, winner of the Prix Renaudot des Lycéens), Gabriële (written with her sister Claire), and Sagan 1954. Her work explores the links between family memory, personal history, and large-scale collective frescoes. Her elegant, sensitive, and lively style makes her a unique voice, appealing to a wide audience.
