Cinna

  • Cinna updates its icons

 cinna

Pascal Mourgue, créateur de l'iconique fauteuil Calin en 1994.

With this new-concept range the manufacturer is adapting its best-sellers for today's trends. One example is the Calin chair.

The year is 1994 and Pascal Mourgue has just dreamt up Calin, an easy chair based on the principle of a folded inclinable pillow. A creation that won two prestigious prizes (a Red Dot and an If Product Design Award) and became one of its manufacturer's iconic pieces. Now 21 years on, the Calin returns to the limelight via the launch of a new range, Les Essentiels, celebrating Cinna's 40th year in business. An anniversary, but a tribute too since the company wanted to dedicate 2015 to Pascal Mourgue, who died in December 2014. Choosing one of this French designer's pieces to kick off the collection makes perfect sense, for who better to launch a line revisiting brand icons to tune them into today's needs than a designer who drew his inspiration from people's lives to think up his creations? The “new” Calin* has solid ashwood legs in the on-trend Scandinavian style; the original chair came in dozens of different fabrics, the new one will be available in just four, but in 10 colours; removable cushion covers have been reintroduced to emphasise the pillow idea. Last but not least, a lower price allows us to succumb to temptation without qualms!
