After the Trianon Palace, Le Crillon and Le Plaza Athénée, Artcurial is now auctioning furnishings from Monaco's iconic Hôtel de Paris from 25 to 28 January 2015.
Last October the Hôtel de Paris Monte-Carlo, which opened 150 years ago, started on a major renovation that is giving collectors an opportunity to acquire part of the palatial hotel's history for themselves. Naturally its historic artworks will have their place in the new décor, but some 3000 lots are up for sale by François Tajan and Stéphane Aubert, at a truly exceptional auction in the hotel itself. Buyers will notably be able to bid for bath linen embroidered with the hotel's initials, around 400 items of crockery including the Constellation service from the Le Grill restaurant, or furnishings from the gastronomic restaurants, the world-renowned foyer, the garden and also the 130 guestrooms including the famed Sarah Bernhardt and Winston Churchill suites. From the latter there's even the easel that the former British Prime Minister used when painting.
