nuits cannes

  • nuit de star

The movie capital plays its part perfectly in nocturnal entertainment too. Action!

Starting the evening
To take in the sunset over Le Suquet, head up the steps to the right of Casino Barrière, alongside the Palais des Festivals, to Les Marches lounge bar's terrace looking out over the yachts in the Vieux Port. This club opens at 8pm and as the evening progresses morphs into a manic dance floor until the wee small hours. Near the Golden Square, the B Pub starts to liven up around its illuminated central bar that reminds you of animated New York cafés. A little further on Le Must beckons, its cosy early-evening ambience, all low-lit and hushed, segueing into pumped-up sounds from the resident DJ until 5am. If you fancy aperitifs and sushi Zoa will suit, but be warned that the 6pm wind-down spot quickly transforms into wild partying urged on by the DJ until 2.30am.

Fun-loving hotels
The InterContinental Carlton Cannes has just opened its Le Grant bar (named after Cary) where great cocktails compete with Micky's no-less-great selection of music. The 3.14 hotel is repeating the happy experience of its crazy Les Fées Tardent nights every Friday from 6pm: rendezvous on the roof to dance to the various guest DJs' sounds via WiFi earphones. Another angle on the night-time view over the rooftops is to be appreciated from the Five Seas Hotel's roof terrace where resident DJ Vince keeps the party going with today's sounds, every night except Thursdays when there's live music instead.

Beach vibes
The new hotspot opposite the Lérins Islands is Gotha Beach, the ideal place to start summer nights as you mean to go on. For its laid-back chill-out evenings it takes on the look of a wild headland at the end of the world, and the fabulous view of Ile Sainte-Marguerite all lit up is well worth a detour. Nocturnal relaxation at the 3.14 beach too, where on fireworks nights you can savour "lounger dinners" in a colourful bohemian atmosphere – but do book! The Grand Hyatt Cannes Hôtel Martinez has reinvented its Zplage party nights with DJ Maggy Smiss on the decks every week night from 6pm, and live bands at weekends; this hotel also partners the Fireworks Festival and hosts top-notch parties for the jury members. Finally, the notion of "Sweet Folly", familiar to regulars at Val d'Isère and Méribel ski resorts, takes over the Majestic-Barrière's beach from 5pm: flavoursome cuisine in a festive ambience of cabaret shows with dancers, vocalists and musicians, then clubbing from 11pm. All in the open air.

The dance floor calls
The Palm Beach's new Heel Club promises lively times with entertainment and theme nights all summer long; just head up the steps to the left of Casino Partouche for this club that draws Cannes's gilded youth. To the right of Casino Partouche, the Gotha Club flaunts this summer's top programme of star DJs, including Sebastian Ingrosso, Swedish House Mafia, Martin Solveig and even David Guetta's Fuck Me I’m Famous on 7 August. Heading towards Port Pierre Canto, the Bâoli's dance floor is as much a must as ever this year, with a host of renowned DJs all set to keep the crowds dancing. Enjoy!
