nuits st tropez

  • Night-time is the right time!

Aperitif time
After the inevitable beach and siesta, start the evening gently by first dropping into Sénéquier – that mythic red terrace – to get the feel of things while sipping a glass of rosé from one of the many vineyards round about. There, you're already in the mood! For a bird's-eye view of the harbour and yachts choose Hôtel Sube's little terrace, perfectly placed for people watching as you toast the sunset. The terrace of the Bar du Port (brainchild of Grégoire Chaix of the Domaine Tropez vineyard) is livened up by a resident DJ and announces the glamour of night-time St Trop as you sip the latest bottling of chilled Ice Tropez. On Place des Lices, the White 1921's bar decorated by Jean-Michel Wilmotte, on the tree-shaded terrace, will wake up your palette with vintage bubbly thanks to champagne tastings of its vast selection of grands crus.

Getting into the swing

Time to move on... to Hôtel
Sezz on Route des Salins, where there's a new pop-up lounge courtesy of the UK's Ange Noir club. Concept creator Marchella de Angelis is on the decks, singer-guitarist Sango delivers live soul and Motown, and those famed Ange Noir cocktails taste all the better after dancing. In the village itself, the Bleu (Domaine Tropez's other hangout) invites you to dine, drink and dance in a décor of indigo and turquoise velvet; it's here you find that typical St Trop evening atmosphere that develops when locals and regular holiday-makers get together. On the harbour, Le Quai tempts you with its design decoration and ambience to match – the perfect place to enjoy a bite and a glass comfortably ensconced in the eye of the storm. If you wander over to La Ponche, Le Bistrot Canaille will surely make it worth while thanks to its offering of wines by the glass and beautifully prepared tapas; as the night advances the calm early evening ambience really hots up around its central bar.

Hitting the dance floor
Time to swing your hips and shake your booty – the night is yours! Jack.E, the St Trop sound's globetrotting ambassador and permanent DJ of Les Caves du Roy club in hotel Byblos, celebrates his 19th season at the Caves, so be warned – the dance floor's luminous palm trees are likely to sway above your heads as the musical hurricane he has in store hits – hot doesn't even come close! A little further on, the Opéra's glitzy terrace (ex-Papagayo) is buzzing with amazing performances beneath the umbrella pines. This party-spirited hangout like an open-air cabaret is putting on surprise concerts, recitals by international tenors, eccentric ballets by well-known choreographers, contortionist acts and more – a real circus! As for the Tsar Folie’s, it has launched Light My Fire!, a full-blown concept experience featuring a LED-covered dance floor and music mixed by DJ Matt Size –
positively hallucinogenic! And to end the night you've no alternative but to join the colourful queue for the VIP Room, local lad Jean Roch's club. This nightlife maestro has concocted his usual stunning programme featuring the best-known DJs, when every night is a unique experience. Stars, supermodels, bronzed beauties and handsome hunks wouldn't miss it for the world.
