Following his passion, Hierro has no use for speeches about art or novelty. Born in Casablanca and moving to Nice as a teenager, he was quickly captivated by his need to paint, as evidenced by his first exhibition at the age of 17, which took him from Paris, Basel, and Vienna to San Francisco. Drawing on his heritage from classical painting, this adventurer at heart enriches it with more contemporary practices, challenging the contradictions of our societies. And now, he takes us into the vibrant world of cities, dark and disturbing, but above all luminous and joyful, through his brand new series of paintings. An "Urban Garden," developed during his residency at La Menuiserie in Nice, which he is continuing this summer in New York at Galerie 345, before returning to present these two parts together in Nice in 2019. Inspired by the energy of street art, the artist uses his own calligraphy to bring a surge of hope, that of art that emerges from turpitudes. "Picasso painted Guernica, Goya Tres de Mayo... If it weren't for painting, music, or gastronomy, people would be delivered to systems," says Hierro, who is imbued with the energy of cities around the world, with all forms of art as a backdrop. Between flowers, words, their colors, and their poetry, he releases resolutely positive energies from London to Singapore, via Miami, delivering a universal message.
