“In search of Madame Cézanne” at the Andrettes Chapel

" In Search of Madame Cézanne" is an artistic investigation into Hortense Fiquet , wife and model of Paul Cézanne, and also muse of Gertrude Stein. Outside the norms of femininity, and raising the question of genderlessness before its time, Hortense Fiquet is a remarkable figure, unjustly ignored by art history, and one who deserves to be rediscovered. Contemporary artists offer a reinterpretation of Madame Cézanne's portraits and explore her place in Cézanne's life and work, as well as the major influence her portraits had on modern art.
