History in the feminine

For the past few days and until November 25, the Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Archives invite you to discover their new exhibition entitled "Women in History: Women of Bouches-du-Rhône from the Middle Ages to the Present Day." A vibrant tribute to those who illuminated Provence. With more than 100 varied archival documents, this exhibition traces the history of women from the Middle Ages to the present day. Through several portraits of famous and lesser-known women, discover those who have marked history through their influence or their commitment, such as Queen Jeanne, Louise Michel, Simone de Beauvoir, Gisèle Halimi. Suffragettes, witches, politicians, workers... Come explore the many facets of the women of our region in an exhibition accessible to all audiences!

An exhibition enriched with activities
The Bouches-du-Rhône Departmental Archives have set up various spaces in their premises to enjoy interactive and fun activities, thus offering a unique experience: "The boudoir" : In this fun space, equipped with an activity wall and a timeline, you can play, reflect and discuss this fascinating social subject, illuminated by historical perspectives.
“Women on a treasure hunt!” : Equipped with a bundle and a booklet, the youngest will set off in search of clues in the exhibition to retrace the history of women and present it on an activity wall!
"What woman!?" : A quiz for older children, exploring themes such as education, citizenship, civil rights, abortion rights, and women who have made their mark on history at the national and departmental levels.
