He imagined a mythological and fantastical universe, a bestiary both joyful and unsettling in which the human figure merges with that of the animal in fascinating hybridizations. A friend of Jean Cocteau and former administrator of the Comédie-Française, the actor, filmmaker, poet, painter, and sculptor spent his final days in the South of France, in Grasse to be precise, and it was with the help of his friends Nini and Jo Pasquali that he took up another form of filmmaking in Vallauris: the potter's wheel. The City wished to honor this multifaceted artist in this space filled with the masterpieces in which he appeared on screen. Beauty and the Beast, Orpheus et Ghosts.
