Just opposite the Gendarmerie that's to become the Musée du Cinéma, the Hôtel de Paris has upped its catering ante. For lunch in the sun, choose the roof terrace with tables on various levels but close enough to the swimming pool to take a dip; here you can treat yourself to Southern-flavoured dishes or perhaps a gluten-free Sunday brunch. In the evening, head to the ground-floor Pationata restaurant to dine on its patio amidst olive and lemon trees. In these very Mediterranean surroundings chef Philippe Guérin serves up Provençal dishes inspired by the local market. Among those already well noted are a fricassee of purple artichokes with olive paste and a mascarpone and rosemary spume; line-caught sea bass confit in olive oil, fagottini with baby leeks, green shellfish consommé; and a traditional baba with vintage rum.
