The Major Cathedral was the perfect setting to host such a gourmet gathering. From September 10th to 12th, the Jean-Paul II esplanade will once again be filled with festive cheer for the 6th edition of the Street Food Festival, returning to its home turf after a successful foray into Aix-en-Provence last June.
Facing the sea, on nearly 6,000 m², around forty restaurateurs, artisans, brewers and winemakers will transform three evenings into a huge gourmet village punctuated by DJ sets from the Hanging Gardens.
The big news of this year's festival can be summed up in one word: Brussels . For the first time, the festival is hosting a guest city, and the Belgian capital isn't arriving empty-handed. Its dedicated pavilion, supported by the Wallonia-Brussels Federation and visit.brussels, promises fries cooked in beef fat, grey shrimp croquettes, authentic waffles, and street food-style carbonnade—not to mention a special beer, Saison de la Canebière, born from the collaboration between a Brussels brewery and the Marseille-based Zoumaï. Chocolatier Laurent Gerbaud will even be offering workshops, and those feeling lucky can try their luck at winning a trip for two to Brussels in the photo booth.
On the local flavor front, two pavilions structure the stroll: "Provence & Mediterranean," focused on seafood and plant-based inspirations, and "World Cuisines," for a more far-flung exploration. Vegetarian options, frozen desserts, AOC wines from the Bouches-du-Rhône region, and local craft beers round out a program designed for leisurely browsing. The "Kermesse des Sens" (Festival of the Senses) returns with its playful and inclusive experience, offering a new way to taste, touch, smell, and listen, sometimes even blindfolded.
