This weekend don't miss the 16th edition of the Voiles de Cassis, an event that has become a must for fans of classic sailing and maritime heritage. This unique gathering showcases the most beautiful traditional sailing ships, in an exceptional setting between the Dirty Cape, the Cassis Bay and the turquoise waters of the Calanques National Park. Organized since 2008, and orchestrated by the Port-Miou Nautical Club, The Sails of Cassis bring together a prestigious fleet of classic yachts every year for a weekend of regattas, conviviality and festivities in one of the most beautiful ports in the Mediterranean. For this 2025 edition, 36 boats are registered — a record — and the event promises to be more vibrant than ever, especially as it coincides with the 30th anniversary of AFYT (French Association of Traditional Yachts), a major player in the preservation of nautical heritage.
A RICH PROGRAM, AT SEA AND ON LAND
Friday May 23
10 a.m.: Reception of crews, confirmation of registrations and inspection of yachts
18 p.m.: Registration closes
20 p.m.: Opening aperitif at the port, friendly atmosphere guaranteed
Saturday May 24
8 a.m.: Buffet breakfast for the crews
10 a.m.: Skippers' briefing
11 a.m.: Sailboats available for one or more sea races
18 p.m.: Return to the port followed by a pétanque competition open to participants
19 p.m.: Display of the day's results
20 p.m.: Gala evening with festive entertainment
22:30 p.m.: Fireworks in the Bay of Cassis
Sunday, May 25
8 a.m.: Buffet breakfast
10 a.m.: Skippers' briefing
11 a.m.: Last rounds at sea
17 p.m.: Return to the port
17:30 p.m.: Awards ceremony followed by the closing aperitif
The party continues on land: the village of Sails, located on Place Aristide Briand, is a real place to live. Under the Berber tent, meet the crews, the maritime artisans, the sponsors and partners of the event, without whom this event would not be possible. Take the opportunity to stroll around the port, discover local products, and vibrate to the rhythm of the entertainment. To experience the emotion of the regattas up close, embark aboard a semi-rigid Eden Boat (reservations at the harbor master's office) and approach the fleet in full action, between strategy, elegance and great spectacle.
