It's a long-awaited rebirth on the Place du Forum: after several months of renovation, the legendary Grand Hôtel Nord-Pinus has reopened its doors this November 3, 2025This iconic place, a living memory of Arles and a witness to a century of bohemian elegance, is now regaining all its splendor without losing any of its soul.
True to its history—that of a hotel frequented by Cocteau, Picasso, Kerouac, Boris Vian, and even the great bullfighters—the Nord-Pinus has always known how to evolve without betraying its essence. The new renovation follows in this tradition: preserving, passing on, but never stagnating.
Under the impetus of Maja Hoffmann, founder of LUMA Arles and the Maisons d'Arles, the hotel was entrusted to the Nigerian-British creator and curator Duro Olowu, renowned for his universe blending cultures, patterns, and textures from around the world, this is his first hotel project, a complete work of art where every detail—from the bespoke furniture to the fabrics inspired by his personal collection—reflects a sensitive and cosmopolitan approach. The 25 unique rooms exude a charm that is both modern and timeless; some even offer a breathtaking view of the historic square from a rooftop apartment.
“Inspired by the unique character of the building, I wanted to create atmospheric spaces that allow everyone the freedom to write their own story,” says Duro Olowu.
A place for both meeting and hospitality, the Nord-Pinus restaurant is now reopening. The counter and his bar The Cintra all year round, under the direction of the Italian chef Antonio AltamuraThe address thus regains its original purpose: that of an open, warm and lively place, where locals and travelers passing through mingle.
