The Orchestre National de France, through its heritage and the dynamism of its project, ensures the influence of French cultural exceptionalism, both within France and from the Auditorium of Radio France, the center of its
activities, both worldwide, thanks to its international tours. Concerned with being close to the public, it is the actor of a "Grand Tour" which covers the whole of the French territory, and also carries out a particularly active educational action.
Under the direction of Yutaka Sado, unanimously acclaimed by international critics as one of the most captivating and charismatic conductors of his generation, the Orchestre National de France, Radio France's musical ensemble, returns to the stage at Les Salins for a program celebrating Spanish music. Accompanied by Thibaut Garcia, a classical guitarist who won a Victoires de la Musique award in 2019, the musicians of the National will perform five pieces by
composers inspired by the Iberian land.
The Japanese conductor chose from the repertoire of Georges Bizet, Joaquín Rodrigo and Maria Rodrigo, but also from the Russian composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov, pieces evocative of Spain to deliver varied interpretations: the idealized one of a Capriccio made to "shine by the virtuosity of its orchestral color," Rimsky-Korsakov indicated.
Korsakov, the other, more earthy and bloody, Bizet's Carmen; and finally, Rodrigo's Concerto under the fingers of Thibaut Garcia, evoking the fragrance of magnolias, birdsong, and the babbling of fountains. A lively and undeniably characterful program!
