A fisherman's hut on the beach at Golfe-Juan, a bouillabaisse recipe simmered on a coal stove, and 120 years of family history. Tetou, an institution that closed in 2018, is reborn in Cannes thanks to the initiative of his great-grandson.
Founded in 1917 by Ernest Cirio, nicknamed Tetou, the restaurant has seen Charlie Chaplin, Elizabeth Taylor, Audrey Hepburn, Orson Welles, President Truman, and Picasso among its patrons. Estelle Prins, the founder's daughter, rebuilt it after the war, inaugurating the new location on the very day of the first Cannes Film Festival in 1946.
The address has changed, heading to Cannes, but the soul remains: the striped storefront, the colours, the team, the menu… and that internationally renowned bouillabaisse recipe, still the same for 120 years.
