Until September 21, the Edgar Mélik Museum in Cabriès is hosting the exhibition “Racines croisés,” a vibrant retrospective of the painter Jean-Michel Cordier. With a body of work imbued with emotions, memories, and human connections, Jean-Michel Cordier weaves an intimate dialogue between past and present. Through some forty canvases, primarily on wood and canvas, the artist explores his origins, his childhood, and the multiple cultural influences that have informed his career. Opening on July 5, the exhibition "Racines croisées" marks a highlight in the career of this unique artist. Originally from France, but nourished by inspirations from Burkina Faso and Corsica, Cordier delivers a painting where memory and movement, silence and momentum coexist. His artistic gesture is part of a quest for meaning, but also a desire to connect with the viewer. Jean-Michel Cordier's work extends beyond the gallery. Heavily involved in educational and community projects, the artist recently donated several works to the Damien-de-Molokaï center in Benin, as part of a program designed to support young students. In Paris, one of his paintings was also auctioned to benefit an association helping sick children. Jean-Michel Cordier defends a vision of art as a lever for social transformation. Exhibited internationally, notably in Milan, he continues to anchor his work in a generous and profoundly human approach. With "Racines croisées," the Mélik Museum invites visitors to discover a dense, sincere, and deeply human pictorial universe. An exhibition not to be missed this summer in Cabriès.
