One might think that the theme of the 42nd European Heritage Days was tailor-made for the Villa Ephrussi de Rothschild: Architectural Heritage. It's hard to find a better example than this Belle Époque icon, which has dominated Saint-Jean-Cap-Ferrat for over a century, a bold blend of Italian, French, and Middle Eastern influences.
Béatrice Ephrussi de Rothschild had big plans for her holiday residence: nine themed gardens, sumptuously decorated lounges, prestigious art collections... So, on September 20 and 21, the Villa will open its doors for guided tours and a nighttime mapping event that will illuminate this eclectic architecture, which defies the codes.
This edition coincides with the centenary of the 1925 Decorative Arts Exhibition, the crucible of Art Deco. The Villa naturally engages with this aesthetic of refinement through its objets d'art—don't miss the Sandoz Greyhounds—and its taste for mixing styles. A lesson in living architecture where every detail recounts the aristocratic art of living of the early XNUMXth century.
