Bringing together the very best in fashion today in one place… that's the mission of La Galerie, a space located on the first floor of Galeries Lafayette in Nice. “Customers on the French Riviera will no longer have to go to Paris to find what they're looking for. Our ambition is to become the go-to destination for fashion,” states Alix Morabito. After completely transforming the Parisian Haussmann store, it was time to extend this ambition to the regions. Nice was the obvious choice: an international and tourist city, driven by an affluent and loyal clientele, and a store with tremendous potential.

Luxury brands and up-and-coming designers

The transformation is radical. The contemporary houses have been moved to the upper floor to free up a completely reimagined ground floor dedicated to luxury and designers, with La Galerie as its centerpiece. Bathed in light, the space draws inspiration from Parisian apartments of the 1930s. Bespoke Carrara marble furniture, a majestic chandelier, and a conversation lounge create an elegant and welcoming setting. This space spans over 200 square meters.2The most prestigious fashion houses are all represented: Miu Miu, Alaïa, Givenchy, Phoebe Philo… as well as the most desirable designers of the moment: Jacquemus, Acne Studios, Toteme, Victoria Beckham, Marni, Stella McCartney. Footwear takes center stage with brands like Amina Muaddi, Aquazzura, Jimmy Choo, Ancient Greek Sandals, and Golden Goose. Around La Galerie, major fashion houses have established their own dedicated spaces: Courrèges, Zimmermann, Ami Paris, and Rabanne. Contemporary design completes the experience with brands like Loulou de Saison, Ganni, and Sœur. For the most part, these labels were previously unavailable in Nice.

Plural fashion as a philosophy

But beyond the names, a philosophy takes hold: that of a multifaceted fashion that embraces all aspects of a woman. "Feminine or conceptual, casual or dressy, we are all a little bit of these women at different stages of our lives," explains the buying director. This conviction is reflected in the curation, from the radicalism of Phoebe Philo – "For me, the greatest designer in the world!" – to the sensuality of Alaïa, by way of the cool-girl aesthetic of Acne Studios. The selection isn't static, however: "We'll maintain a core range of offerings, and the rest will evolve" with the trends and seasons. Beyond the brands, the entire in-store experience has also been enhanced. Trained advisors, advanced clienteling tools, redesigned fitting rooms, and seamless customer flow: every detail contributes to increased comfort and a closer connection with customers. A true living space, where the shopaholic feels right at home!

"A city within a city"

Nearly two years of work, championed convictions, and negotiations. Then, suddenly, it was clear. At the opening, Alix was overcome with emotion. The objectives were exceeded within the first few days. But what also moved her was the scene unfolding before her eyes: young girls arriving with their mothers, fashionistas snapping up a complete look in minutes, loyal customers delighted to discover this unique world. "A city within a city," as she likes to say. Exactly what she had felt twenty years ago when she first entered under Haussmann's dome. "It's Paris in Nice!" she heard. "I didn't expect it to be so palpable." That is undoubtedly the greatest reward: seeing Nice shine as it deserves.
