During Monaco Art Week (some exhibitions of which run into the summer), the Ribolzi Gallery is showcasing major drawings by Christo, alongside works by his favorite artists. Known with his wife Jeanne-Claude for their coverings of landscapes and monuments—from the Arc de Triomphe in Paris to the Reichstag in Berlin—his work inspires wonder and stimulates the imagination. For the artist, the preparatory drawings created for these ephemeral interventions have always been independent works, and the exhibition features two projects: The Mastaba , an accumulation of hundreds of barrels in a form reminiscent of an ancient monument (realized several times), and Over The River , a project never executed but on which the duo worked for years. These drawings are fascinatingly executed and imbued with poetry.
