In Aix-en-Provence, the Nest Gallery opens a new chapter with an exhibition dedicated to the photographer Brice Gelotwhose powerful and unpretentious work captures the essence of urban cultures around the world. A striking immersion in socially engaged photography, where each image becomes a testament.

A self-taught artist, born in Dijon in 1985, Brice Gelot has been developing an approach deeply rooted in reality for over 20 years. His work is part of the tradition of street photography and documentarywith a rare requirement: taking the time. Immersing oneself, observing, creating a connection. It is in this patient proximity that his images are born, far from any staging.

From Naples to Los Angeles, via Saigon and Mexico City, he explores urban territories and often marginalized communities, particularly the tattoo community. His black and white photographs, taken exclusively in natural light, reveal a raw intensity, where tension, intimacy, and humanity intertwine.

With a direct, visual style of writing, staying as close as possible to the subject, Brice Gelot rejects special effects in favor of experienceHis gaze questions notions of identity, territory, and visibility, while inviting a form of silent empathy. More than an aesthetic, it is an approach: to show without judging, to document without artifice.

This first solo exhibition at the Nest Gallery reflects the gallery's stated desire to highlight strong and contemporary artistic approaches.

An exhibition to be discovered as a plunge into rarely seen realities, where sight becomes a tool for understanding.
