Since July 4th, Les Carrières des Lumières, these former stone quarries transformed into cathedrals of giant projections, have been hosting " Ocean, immersion in the underwater world ," a unique creation that transforms the limestone walls into coral reefs, ice floes, and abysses teeming with life. Enough to make young and old alike dream without even getting a toe wet.
In over 800 video sequences, more than 100 marine species parade at life-size on the walls: schools of swirling tropical fish, slowly gliding turtles, orcas and blue whales that seem to swim above heads, penguins that slide down the ice floe, phosphorescent jellyfish, seahorses and even a great white shark that suddenly appears in front of visitors.
The experience is designed to completely envelop visitors: a carefully crafted soundtrack (dolphin songs, seagull cries, the sound of waves) accompanies each scene and makes the journey even more immersive for curious children's ears.
Beyond the spectacle, the route also subtly weaves in some key awareness-raising elements: an opportunity to discuss the fragile beauty of the oceans and the importance of protecting them with younger children, without ever resorting to moralizing. A wonderful way to introduce families to marine biodiversity, following a pleasant walk.
