The Grand Rex: up there with the stars

Head to the Grands Boulevards district to find Europe's biggest cinema, with 2650 seats. The Grand Rex opened in 1932 and is still going, with films and live shows. It's said to be modelled on the even bigger Radio City Music Hall in New York. The decor is wonderfully kitsch: a mélange of Art Deco, neo-classical and Oriental, with a sublime starry dome above the auditorium. You can also take a fun 50-minute tour of the place, at any time of year. The Rex Club a few yards away has been delighting fans of electro music for 20 years now.
