Palais de la Bourse

Originally, Napoleon wanted to put the Paris stock exchange or Bourse in La Madeleine, but the imposing Palais Brongniart – named after its architect – won the day and has been standing proud on Place de la Bourse since 1826. After serving as a stock exchange for a century and a half, the Palais de la Bourse with its grand Corinthian columns is now a conference and events centre. We common mortals can only admire it from the outside.
